Neuroscience center of excellence, including a JCAHO-certified stroke program, devoted to interdisciplinary care for adult neurology and neurosurgery patients.


Patient Population
  • Ages 18 and up
  • Diagnoses include brain tumor, aneurysm, myasthenia gravis, Guillain-Barre syndrome, cervical and lumbar laminectomies, acute stroke, normal pressure hydrocephalus
  • Average length of stay: 4.5 days
Number of Beds
  • 26 – Meyer 9
  • 4 - Brain Rescue Unit
Nurse/Patient Ratio
  • 4 Patients: 1 Nurse - Day Shift; 4-5 Patients: 1 Nurse - Night Shift

Rotation/Shifts
  • 8 and 12 hours
  •  Flexible, self-schedule
Skill Mix
  • 65 percent RN
  • 35 percent Clinical associates
  • Telemetry certification for Brain Rescue Unit
Orientation
  • 10 to 12 weeks
  • Neurological surgical nursing fellowship program
  • New grads: SPRING program
